One headliner is that it will reduce the amount of storage required to perform a software update -- the big storage need was seen as a major reason why Apple customers were slow to download iOS 8 upon its launch. Apple requested just 136MB of space on our iPad for the iOS 8.1.2 download, while an iPhone download was 248MB.

Other items included in the update, which can be accessed over the air by visiting Settings>General>Software Update on your device, include:
*Fixes an issue that prevented some users from entering the Apple ID password for Messages and FaceTime
*Addresses an issue that caused Spotlight to stop displaying app results
*Fixes and issue which prevented multitasking gestures from working on iPad
*Adds new configuration options for education standardized testing
Apple last updated iOS in December, when it solved the mystery of disappearing ringtones.
The iOS 8.2 update, now in beta, will include support for Apple Watch.
