Ob .txt oder .zip - sobald Sie eine Datei mit der entsprechenden Datei-Endung sehen, wissen Sie, dass es sich um eine Text- bzw- Archiv-Datei handelt. Aber wissen Sie auch, was es mit Dateien auf sich hat, bei denen nach dem Punkt "abm", "crw" oder gar "gz" folgt?
Es gibt unzählige Datei-Endungen (auch Datei-Erweiterung oder Filename Extensions genannt). Die Website Endungen.de hat in ihrer Datenbank beispielsweise derzeit über 10.000 Einträge mit Datei-Endungen gesammelt. Auf Filext.com finden sich sogar über 26.000 Datei-Endungen. Und ständig kommen neue hinzu, denn es gibt keinen Standard für Datei-Endungen.
Auf den folgenden Seiten präsentieren wir Ihnen die 270 wichtigsten Datei-Endungen, auf die Anwender im PC-Alltag stoßen.
Und noch ein Tipp:
Standardmäßig blendet Windows die Datei-Endung von Dateien aus. Dies nutzen Angreifer oft aus, um Anwender dazu zu verleiten, eine Datei aufzurufen, indem sie eine schädliche ausführbare Datei einfach von "schaedlich.exe" in "schaedlich.jpg.exe" umbenennen. Windows zeigt dann nur "schaedlich.jpg" an und der Anwender glaub, mit einem Doppelklick eine Bild-Datei zu öffnen. Damit Windows generell die Datei-Namen inklusive Datei-Endung anzeigt, rufen Sie im Windows Explorer die "Ordneroptionen" auf wechseln hier in den Reiter "Ansicht". Dort entfernen Sie das Häkchen unter "Erweiterungen bei bekannten Dateitypen ausblenden".
