Adobe claimed that designers would be able to start layout-design projects on iPad, creating concepts that incorporate previously created assets and then easily move to the desktop where Creative Cloud tools, such as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, can be used to create production-quality work.
First previewed as a sneak peek at Adobe MAX last October under the name Project LayUp, Comp CC is built on the Adobe Creative SDK. It allows designers to use simple iPad gestures to quickly produce high-fidelity layouts.
Adobe said Comp CC would extend the mobile and desktop workflows enabled by its Creative Profile and Creative Cloud Libraries. The latter consist of design assets - such as images, colours, text styles, brushes and more - that Creative Cloud members have created.
Comp CC also lets designers quickly combine Typekit fonts, relevant images, colour swatches and shapes they need to jump-start layout-design projects on iPad and later continue their work in CC desktop tools.
