Google Keep gets improved search, Docs gains comment notifications in round of updates

30.06.2016
Google Keep continues to make strides that move it beyond just a simple note-taking app.

The latest update improves the search experience, putting Google’s organization capabilities to work for your current and archived notes.

Now you’ll see auto-labels by touching the search bar. You can then select one of the groupings and search further through your notes and images.

Grab the latest version of Google Keep for Android from the Play Store or APK Mirror to get in on the action.

For Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides, you’ll now get a notification from the desktop or the Android app if you have a new comment on one of your files. If you’re already signed up to get notifications through email, this will carry over to push alerts.

You can check in to your notification settings to see what you’ve enabled. To make this happen Google is flipping a switch on its end, so no app updates are necessary.

The impact on you: With Evernote recently announcing a price increase and more limitations on its free tier, you might be in the market for a new note-taking app. Google Keep is an excellent option, and it keeps getting better all the time. Keep could still use some deeper ties to Drive apps, which we expect to see happen over time.
