The images, posted by Samsung and network operator T-Mobile U.S., show the smartphone from the side. The T-Mobile image has the tagline "six appeal" and shows the side of the device lit up, all but confirming the name and the expected launch of a device with a curved screen that wraps around one or both edges. Samsung first used such a curved screen on the Galaxy Note Edge, which it announced last year.
The T-Mobile image along with another image Samsung has posted on Twitter also tease an improved design, which the Galaxy S6 needs if Samsung wants the smartphone to be a bigger hit its predecessor.
Part of that improvement is the expected use of metal instead of the plastic used on the Galaxy S5. The voice-over in a video posted by Samsung on YouTube says that "metals will flow," which isn't the most straightforward way of saying that its new product will be made of the material, but is still a good hint.
Along with an improved design, the Galaxy S6 is also expected to have a screen close in size to 5.1 inches of the Galaxy S5, but with a higher resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. A faster processor, better cameras and more RAM are among the other anticipated improvements.
The T-Mobile image was posted alongside a sign-up sheet for those who want more information about the device.
Samsung is holding another of its Unpacked events on Sunday in Barcelona, ahead of the Mobile World Congress trade show. At previous Unpacked events it launched the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy Note 4, among other devices.
