Ruckus Wireless launches scalable Wi-Fi management for enterprise

20.05.2015
Wireless systems vendor, Ruckus Wireless, has released a new software platform designed to bring carrier-grade wireless capability to enterprise customers.

The SmartZone software is said to provides unified software architecture across wireless LAN (WLAN) controllers, for appliance, virtualised and Cloud environments.

The new software scales up to 300,000 devices, offering single and multi-tenancy. It also features the firm's 'Wi-Fi-as-you-grow' capability that allows a network to adapt to changing requirements of the customer.

Ruckus vice-president product management, Greg Beach, said enterprises and service providers that are providing Wi-Fi are under the stress of increasing mobile device proliferation and constantly escalating availability requirements of business-critical applications.

"As applications evolve and more devices get connected, both of them need to invest in a high performance and high availability network to overcome these challenges today, while investing for their future Wi-Fi needs. With our Ruckus SmartZone software platform, we're providing them with a solution that is cost-effective and easy to use and manage," he said.

The software incorporates and supports all Ruckus ZoneFlex indoor and outdoor access points (APs), managed by physical and virtual appliance controllers.

The firm also released its compatible Ruckus SmartZone 100 that supports up to 25,000 clients with up to 10 Gbps data throughput. The controller can manage up to 1,024 APs with support for up to 3,000 APs and 60,000 clients in a cluster.
