The Nexus 6 disappears from the Google Store

09.12.2015
The Nexus 5X and 6P began shipping in October and now that sales are well underway, Google is bidding adieu to the Nexus 6. The Google Store has stopped selling the device. Its product page now says, “The Nexus 6 is no longer available for purchase,” as first noted by Android Police.

Anyone looking for the device can still find it on Amazon for around $350, and other retailers like Best Buy are also carrying the device.

The Nexus 6 was something of a controversial phone when it arrived as it was the largest and most expensive Nexus phone ever. At an original price of $649, Google offered a great phone with solid performance and a massive 6-inch display.

The words “absurdly large” and “gargantuan” appeared right at the top of our review, and rightfully so. Google really overdid it with the Nexus 6. Even Samsung hasn’t dared to go that large with its Galaxy Note phablets. Realizing the error of its ways, Google and its 6P partner Huawei scaled back the screen size to a more modest 5.7 inches for the latest big-ass Nexus.

The impact on you at home: If the Nexus 6’s massive size appealed to you, it’s not too late to get your own unit. As we noted above, Amazon, Best Buy, and many others are still selling the device. Just make sure you shop smart and check a few sites before diving into a purchase. With the Nexus 6 disappearing from store shelves, you may be able to get a good deal in the coming weeks as retailers look to clear inventory.
