Facebook Messenger may again handle SMS messages on Android
After some Android users spotted it, Facebook confirmed the testing in a statement to VentureBeat.
To see if you’re in on the test, go to the Facebook app settings and see if you have Change SMS App as an option.
The other major tweak, which everyone has access to, is the ability add multiple accounts to Messenger. This should make your life a bit easier if you’re in charge of managing several profiles at once, which is more common as businesses rely on Facebook to interact with customers.
If you want to try your luck with the newest features you can get Facebook Messenger in the Google Play Store.
The story behind the story: Facebook wants to position its Messenger app as the dominant, cross-platform messaging solution. It’s tried to make this happen through integration with other services, like a recent tie-in to Uber and Lyft. Since SMS just won’t die, you could use Messenger for all your conversations this way, unless of course you’ve embraced one of the many other over-the-top services available.
