Samsung Pay beta is now open for testers
If you have a Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+, or Note 5 you can head to the Samsung Pay site and sign up to be a tester.
Along with the right hardware, you need to have a Samsung account and a Visa or MasterCard issued by Bank of America, U.S. Bank, Merrill Lynch, U.S. Trust, or Elan Financial. Verizon still isn’t on board, as the only supported carriers are AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and U.S. Cellular.
Once you sign up, Samsung says you’ll get an email notification if you’re in the program. Then you’ll get further instructions about getting going with Samsung Pay on your device.
The story behind the story: Samsung really played up its mobile payment solution when launching its all-glass-and-metal Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Samsung Pay’s big differentiator is that supports both NFC and magnetic stripe card readers. The whole mobile payments system on Android is in flux, with Google set to roll out Android Pay soon, bumping aside Google Wallet.
