Veeam schedules Availability Suite v9 for late 2015 release
It said, in a statement, that integration with EMC meant enterprise IT will be able to use Veeam Backup from Storage Snapshots to create backups from EMC VNX or VNXe storage snapshots.
Veeam claimed this will enable IT to recover individual items from these storage snapshots in two minutes or less through use of its Explorer for Storage Snapshots without the need for staging or any other intermediate steps.
The company added the release will bring additional restore granularity and intelligence to recovery from VNX storage snapshots.
Veeam Explorer for Storage Snapshots is said to enable multiple recovery scenarios for an individual file, an individual application item like an Exchange e-mail or SharePoint document or a single VM.
As a result of this integration, Veeam said users can achieve much lower recovery point objectives (RPOs) and lower recovery time objectives (RTOs) with minimal impact on production VMs.
Veeam chief executive, Ratmir Timashev, said the firm was committed to providing availability for the modern datacentre, which means achieving a recovery time and point objective of 15 minutes or less.

"To provide true availability, Veeam is taking full advantage of modern datacentre technologies such as virtualisation, Cloud and advanced storage technologies like EMC's VNX and VNXe hybrid flash storage arrays," he said.
"This helps us to further strengthen our enterprise presence, enabling users to create back-ups from storage snapshots every 5 minutes and recover any application and data much faster to enable the Always-On Business."
