What's inside the new Apple TV iFixit tears one apart to find out
The Apple TV that iFixit took apart had 32GB of memory permanently attached to the logic board. There isn’t a way to easily upgrade the device with more memory. (Apple sells a 64GB Apple TV for $199). The heat sink inside the Apple TV is huge; the device uses more power than the previous model.
iFixit also took apart the Apple TV’s remote control. The rechargeable battery is soldered to the remote’s Lightning port, so it’ll be interesting to see what Apple does when the batteries dies. Will the company require you to turn in the remote for battery replacement, or will it simply give you a new remote
iFixit gave the Apple TV an 8 out of 10 for reparability; a 10 score means it’s easiest to repair. Check out the complete details of the Apple TV teardown.
