Google designing new Mountain View headquarters
The company, which already has a large multi-building campus in Mountain View, confirmed to Computerworld that it plans to lay out its plans for a new development Friday. At that point, Google is expected to release information about the size, design and specific location of the new development.
Earlier today, The New York Timesreported that Google representatives have discussed the plan with the Mountain View city council.
The company is working with London-based designers at Heatherwick Studio, which designed the cauldron for the 2012 summer Olympics as well as the first double-decker bus that London had commissioned in 50 years.
Google has been based in Mountain View since August 1999.
Last year, the company bought a 400,000-square-foot office park in the same city. Google said on its website that it now has more than 70 offices in more than 40 countries.
Google's campus is known for its multiple restaurants with acclaimed chefs, nap pods, pool tables and a meditation garden.
