Sky has announced that its TV service, commonly known as Sky Go, is now available on Sony's PS4 games console. See also: PS4 vs Xbox One review.

PlayStation 4 owners can now access Sky Go, although it's actually called 'TV from Sky'. That's great news for owners of the next-gen console but anyone with a PS3 will have to wait until early 2015 for support to arrive.

Fergal Gara, Vice President for Sony Computer Entertainment UK said: "The addition of TV from Sky today to the PS4 is going to delight all users of the newest, most powerful member of the PlayStation family. TV from Sky joining other services on PS4 including Now TV, further enhances our credentials as the ultimate gaming and entertainment package."

The catch is that Sky customers need a Sky Go Extra subscription which costs an additional £5 per month to register the PS4 as a device allowing them to watch live and on-demand Sky TV content. It will be free for Sky Multiscreen customers, though.

TV from Sky on PS4 includes all seven Sky Sports channels, Eurosport, 11 Sky Movies channels, Sky Atlantic and third party channels such as Fox. See also: How to play PS3 games on PS4: Is it possible

The news comes a day after the 20th anniversary of the original PlayStation and is just in time for some upcoming winter programming including Olive Kitteridge, Agatha Raisin and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. To celebrate, the firm is launching an anniversary edition of the console in the grey colour of the original PlayStation as well as various discounts on games.
