Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise and VExpress launch Total Office Mobility
TOM looks to provide a mobility solution for the SMB market by leveraging an application on mobile devices that can enable the functionality of a private automated branch exchange (PABX) without an additional handset.
ALE said, in a statement, that at the core of the TOM solution is the OmniPCX Office mobility gateway, which has been configured to include the OpenTouch Conversation mobility application. According to the company, this allows users to use their iPhone, Android and Windows smartphones as their business phone either in or out of the office.
VEXpress chief executive, Mike Harte, said the bring your own device (BYOD) revolution, the growth of mobility and the emergence of a flexible working environment is driving a change in the way we work.
“TOM enables SMBs to enjoy mobility and a new way of working, and the easy adoption of future technology - at no time do they sacrifice the functionality of the traditional static systems,” he said.
ALE channel director, Chris Downes, said the solution enables customers to leverage ALE wired and wireless LAN solutions, providing high speed network connectivity for office environments.
“The simplicity of the bundle will see end-users supplied with a complete communication and networking solution from a single vendor, invoiced on their Telstra bill and backed up by a single support contract,” he added.
