Android device updates: HTC 10 is getting stability fixes and preview 3 is headed to Android N
But that doesn’t means there are no updates to be had. Most are minor, but every little bit counts.
Each week, we compile all the major software updates to hit the Android ecosystem, including phones and tablets on U.S. carriers, unlocked phones, Android Wear smartwatches, and Android TV devices. Making sure your device is running the latest available software is a good housekeeping practice, ensuring you have the latest features with fewer bugs and gaping security holes.
HTC 10: This phone is relatively new to the wild, but there’s already a software update that improves camera performance, Wi-Fi stability, and fixes other bugs. HTC says you should connect to Wi-Fi and expect at least 20 minutes for the update process.
HTC 10, One A9, One M9: Android N is on everyone’s mind this week, so HTC took the opportunity to announce on Twitter that Android N will make its way to these three phones.
The final version is supposed to be available later this year, and HTC has a pretty good track record of pushing out updates. So if this is your phone, definitely stay tuned.
Android N Preview: If you’re running Android N, it’s time to check out Preview 3. The update was announced at Google I/O, and should be available if you’re running the beta on a compatible device. It finally enables Android Pay and makes several under-the-hood improvements.
