Minecraft is coming to the Oculus Rift VR headset
24.09.2015
Hollywood, CA— Oculus founder Palmer Luckey took the stage at Oculus Connect 2015 this morning to announce that Minecraft is coming to yet another platform. It’s the Oculus Rift this time, if you hadn’t inferred that already.
Yes, the multi-billion dollar extravaganza continues its march towards world domination by adding a virtual reality version for the Oculus Rift. No word yet whether the alternative Oculus Touch controller—punch trees with your real fists!—is supported or whether it’s built for the plain ol’ Xbox One gamepad alone.
This is just the latest experiment for Minecraft, which also was featured as one of the key Microsoft HoloLens demos earlier this year and recently landed on Windows 10. And with such a huge audience for Minecraft, it’s no surprise the Rift courted its own version—new hardware needs mass market software appeal, and Minecraft certainly fits that bill.
Stay tuned for more announcements from Oculus Connect 2015.
