Apple outs reported iPhone 6C on its website
Two years ago, Apple departed from its ritualistic custom by unveiling a less expensive iPhone. It was called the iPhone 5C and its use of bright plastic failed to resonate with Australian customers.

Conjecture on a followup to the 5C has been rampant as Apple's current range of iPhones is scheduled for a refresh come September.
Apple seems to have validated the speculation by posting a photo of a smartphone not part of its current range to the company's website. The smartphone posted is clad in plastic and resembles the current iPhone 5C -- except in one important way.
The smartphone pictured has Apple's TouchID technology in-built into the home button, which is a feature absent in the current iPhone 5C.

The shape of the smartphone's body resembles that of the 5S generation of iPhones. This would indicate the smartphone has a smaller 4-inch screen and should appease customers reluctant to upgrade to a 4.7-inch iPhone 6.

Apple has since replaced the photo of the supposed iPhone 6C with one of the iPhone 5C; however, The Guardian captured screenshots of the smartphone prior to its removal.
