Centrify launches its Centrify Privilege Service solution
According to the company, as more enterprises embrace the Cloud, privileged accounts increasingly lie outside the corporate perimeter and are frequently shared by both internal IT and often remote third parties such as contractors and vendors.
Therefore, these accounts are top targets for hackers and malicious insiders alike, providing them with elevated access to an organisation's most critical data, applications, systems and network devices.
"These core security breaches that we've seen so far have hackers that have found out ways to get in to these privileged accounts which even end users don't have access to. And once they get in, they steal whatever information they want -- from financial data, to records, government exploits, or anything else they can resell," Centrify chief marketing officer, Mark Weiner, said.
As such, the main aim of the Centrify Privilege Service solution is to shield businesses from core security breaches by addressing the hybrid IT environments of on-premise and Cloud-based systems.
It complements and extends capabilities for identity consolidation, privilege management and privileged session auditing found in the flagship Centrify Server Suite by providing shared account password management for servers, network devices and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS).
It also addresses security and audit requirements to manage Cloud-based and on-premise access to critical production systems without the need for a VPN.

"We see a real market interest in solutions that can lockdown and secure what privileged users do, particularly where these accounts are shared. So what we're rolling out uses the Cloud to secure these accounts for privileged users because firewalls are doing no good for it," Weiner said.
He also mentioned that the Privilege Service solution sits in well with its other suite of offerings.
"Both of our Cloud-based services sit on the same underlying Cloud infrastructure. The benefit for customers is that they can do multiple things from this Cloud offering -- such as common operation, common support, or common professional services."

And according to Weiner, all the company's channel partners have to do to add value to their clients is just set up accounts since the solution is a Cloud service which they don't have to deploy.
The Centrify Privilege Service solution will be delivered as a multi-tenant Cloud service, available in 15 languages from ten datacentres across the world and with support for mobile devices. The solution will be generally available sometime early May. Pricing is US$50 per privileged user per month, with volume and education pricing available. Australian pricings will be finalised closer to release date.
