Although the latest flagship Android smartphone is the Nexus 6, Google has put 2013's Nexus 5 back on sale in the devices section of the Google Play store. The handset has never been removed from the online shop but previously said 'we are out of inventory'. Read: Where to buy the Nexus 6 in the UK.

It seems Google still has some left over stock that it wants to shift and you can buy the Nexus 5 in either 16- or 32 GB models for £299 and £339 respectively. However, the UK Google Play store only has the black edition, not white or red. Devices will leave the warehouse in one to two business days.

The previous flagship smartphone from Google remains a pretty decent purchase with its 5in Full HD screen, 8 Mp camera, wireless charging and support for 4G LTE networks. The Nexus 6 is a beast at 6in and is pricey at £499.

Although the Nexus 5 still ships with Android 4.4 KitKat, an update to Android 5.0 Lollipop will be available as soon as you've set the device up out-of-the-box. Google recently confirmed this week that less than two percent of devices are running the latest version of its mobile operating system, 1.6 percent to be precise. The majority of Android devices run KitKat or Jelly Bean.
