Opengear deploys ZTP capabilities across its products

30.03.2015
Critical infrastructure management company, Opengear, has made available the availability of Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) capabilities across its products in an attempt to speed up large-scale deployments of its out-of-band management technology.

ZTP enables automated provisioning of configuration to newly deployed Opengear appliances over the network, without the need for manual user interaction. With the recently released firmware version, ZTP will be available as part of the company's out-of-band (OOB) management technology.

"We've got it deployed on our datacentre products, which are the ones that most of the ISPs and large companies use. We've also got it on our smaller-scale branch office products. We're constantly looking to evolve the product and making it better, so ZTP is a step in that direction," Opengear A/NZ sales manager, Brendan Walsh, said.

Walsh claimed that the company decided to introduce this solution to reduce errors and save time, especially since large-scale deployments are now requiring faster and more flexible implementation options.

He said the move is good news for Opengear's channel, of which some of its Australian partners include Dimension Data and Data#3.

"Automation and the ability to rack, stack, and provision network appliances in minutes make ZTP a capability we're excited to add to the Opengear product suite. By making deployment of equipment a much less manual process, network administrators are able to save time and reduce errors."

Walsh also mentioned that the company's currently on an awareness campaign with the channel about its products and what services they can offer to their clients around these offerings.

"ZTP might mean more to the larger end of town but we've also got enough products that are attractive to the smaller guys as well," he added.
