Galaxy S7 Active looks ready for combat in latest leak
This report comes courtesy of some leaked images from Vietnam, which is often a source for discoveries. They show a camouflage-designed phone with the more sizable footprint, similar to what we’ve seen in the past with "Active" editions.
While there are no specifics from this leak about the specs, our experience with the Galaxy S6 Active shows the internals usually stick close to the current edition.
What the Active edition gets you is the more robust exterior, three physical buttons instead of just one home button, and a bigger battery so it can last during all your outdoor adventures. This year’s Galaxy S7 and S7 Active already have water resistance, but you definitely need a case as the glass-and-metal design is easily breakable, and a fingerprint magnet.
The images show an AT&T model—as with past Active phones, we expect it to be an AT&T exclusive in the U.S.
Why this matters: When these type of leaks appear, it means we’re usually creeping close to a launch. We got our hands on the GS6 Active in July last year, so at the most we probably have a couple of months or less before Samsung marches these phones out to the stores.
